Let’s just call him Professor Q-Tip. Can you imagine all the knowledge the students at New York University’s Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music in The Tisch School of the Arts will receive. Amazing! Q-Tip will join Journalists Ashley Kahn to teach a course on the intersection of Jazz and Hip-Hop. The seven-class schedule wil cover artist like Public Enemy, The Roots, Lauryn Hill and Kendrick Lamar. The second part of the course the students will receive in class and out class assignments from Q-Tip’s mentorship from learning musicianship, performance, compostition, and production. Class will beginning September 5 in the Fall semester.
This past weekend has been an amazing week for Hip Hop, from the release of Cardi B’s album to Drake teasing us with his release of his single “Nice For What” which debuted with a video. For the video he spotlights a group of strong women featuring Olivia Wilde, Rashida Jones, Jourdain Dunn, Michelle Rodriguez, Misty Copeland, Issa Rae, Tracee Ellis Ross, Tiffany Haddish, Yara Shahidi, Zoe Saldana, Elizabeth Lejonhjarta, Victoria Lejonhjarta, Letitia Wright, Bria Vinaite, Emma Roberts, and Syd.
